Tara Novak
Painter
Tara Austin Novak is a lifelong mountain artist, designer, and entrepreneur who has called Colorado’s Vail Valley home for over 30 years. A former professional snowboarder and Rochester Institute of Technology design graduate (Packaging, Graphic, and Industrial Design), Tara seamlessly bridges fine art and functional design across mountain resort communities.
As owner and lead artist of Custom Creations Inc. and founder of ARTSPACE workshop+gallery, she collaborates with builders, interior designers, and homeowners on luxury decorative wall finishes, restorations, and fine art commissions. Her abstract paintings utilize non-traditional tools and rich, tactile layers—plasters, metallics, resin, and gold leaf—to reflect the shifting colors and resilient textures of the natural world and human experience.
A deeply committed advocate for place-making and local creatives, Tara founded the EagleARTS ARTwalk, led numerous public art murals and projects, and earned the Town of Eagle’s Community Impact Award (2019) alongside multiple Best of Vail Valley honors. She actively strengthens her mountain community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Vail Valley Art Guild and EagleARTS, finding continuous inspiration in the mountain landscapes where she lives, paints, and plays.
