Intro to Soft Pastels with Joann Carhart Levy is a free art class for members.  It is designed for artists of all abilities who are interested in learning the basics of working with soft pastels. The class will be held at our new Avon Gallery in a relaxed and welcoming environment, allowing students to feel comfortable and confident in their artistic abilities. Joann Carhart Levy, a professional artist with years of experience working with soft pastels, will be the instructor for the class. She will guide students through the process of creating beautiful pastel artworks, while also providing individualized attention and feedback.

The class will begin with an introduction to the materials and tools used in soft pastel art, including different types of pastels, papers, and blending techniques. Joann will demonstrate how to properly hold and use the pastels, as well as how to create different textures and effects with them.

Members will then have the opportunity to practice these techniques and create their own pastel artworks. Joann will provide step-by-step instructions and tips to help members bring their ideas to life. Joann will share her knowledge and expertise on color theory, composition, and other important elements of creating a successful pastel artwork. 

At the end of the class, participants will have a completed pastel artwork to take home!
