Avon Seeking Mural Artists for the Seasons at Avon Mural Project Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is calling upon the creative community to contribute to its cultural landscape with the addition of another large-scale mural to be located at the Season at Avon building. The Town of Avon has released a Call for Mural Artists/Request for Proposals (“RFP”), inviting multiple Colorado based artists or Colorado based artist teams to lend their imaginative expertise to this exciting endeavor. “Avon is seeking a design that will be a vibrant celebration of our community's rich tapestry, weaving together elements of history, education, discovery, and our unique mountain lifestyle," stated Chief Cultural Officer, Danita Dempsey. “The Season Mural Project aims to enhance the physical connection between our cultural spaces such as Avon’s Library, Recreation Center, Civic Center and the eastern gateway to Nottingham Park.” Dempsey continued. The initiative seeks to inspire community, spark meaningful conversations, and foster deeper connections among residents and visitors alike. Furthermore, it aims to solidify Avon’s reputation as a place for artistic expression and creativity. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals via CaFE here . Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2025.The integration of artistic endeavors into public spaces enhances the pedestrian experience and promotes vibrancy, creativity, and livelihood in the community. Public art has the remarkable ability to serve as a testament to the diversity and rich history of a community while simultaneously signaling its aspirations for the future. Beginning in December, our Gallery Hours will be from Thursday to Saturday 1 - 6 pm, providing ample opportunity for art enthusiasts and the general public to immerse themselves in the vibrant local art scene. Our gallery will showcase an amazing array of artwork from talented local artists, each piece reflecting the unique culture and spirit of the Vail Valley. These artworks are not only visually captivating but are also available for purchase, allowing visitors to take a piece of the local artistry home with them. Whether you are looking for a stunning painting, an intricate sculpture, or unique crafts, our gallery offers a diverse selection that caters to a variety of tastes and preferences. The Vail Valley Art Guild is deeply committed to enhancing lives through artistic expression by encouraging and supporting artistic development among both established and emerging artists. Our mission also focuses on increasing awareness of the visual arts within Eagle County, fostering a greater appreciation for creativity and self-expression in our community. Established in 2014, the Vail Valley Art Guild (VVAG) was founded in response to the growing need for a supportive organization that is created by visual artists and for visual artists. We are honored to now be part of the Town of Avon's Culture, Arts & Special Events family by announcing our newest location in Avon. The Art Guild at Avon is in the Heart of the Valley at the Seasons Building, 137 W. Benchmark Road, Suite C2. Melissa Nelson, VVAG President, stated that “Thanks to the Town of Avon we have numerous opportunities this summer for all levels of artists and photographers to explore and expand their creativity through our open-to-the-public workshops and monthly member meetings. Additionally, we are offering summer art camps (some with music) for kids ages five to 14 beginning June 3 through August 16. We invite the community to join us and let art bring joy to your life!” Join us in celebrating at our Grand Opening on July 14 5-8. By creating an RSVP, you will have the opportunity to provide feedback after the event ends. We already have a significant number of activities scheduled including most of our bilingual kids programs, artist workshops, and our new adult music classes. We are pleased to announce our partnership with The Charter at Beaver Creek The Charter at Beaver Creek offers a complete retreat for ski enthusiasts and relaxation seekers alike. Experience ski-in access, skier shuttle, access on-site winter sports rentals at Charter Sports , experience an alpine haven at the Spa & Nail Salon , and sit down to contemporary cuisine at the new Charter Steakhouse. The Charter is conveniently located steps from village amenities, shops, restaurants, and the ski slopes at Beaver Creek Resort. It all started last year when the Charter Homeowners Association president met Guild member Margo Thomas at a local summer art show. They hoped to include local artists as part of their campus renovation. Of course we lept to action with such an exciting opportunity. The renovation is complete and the artwork makes the architecture shine!! Our collaborative programs are now ready for the world to love!! ARTWALKS In collaboration with the brand new Charter Steakhouse, we are hosting four artwalks this ski season. We will host a complimentary wine & cheese happy hour. Each Artwalk will be attended by featured artists. Our first Artwalk is part of the Dec 20 5-8pm Steakhouse Grand Re-Opening celebration. There will be complimentary wine, beer, and charcuterie located throughout the common areas of the hotel and restaurant. Our featured artists will be wearing Vail Valley Art Guild badges. Make sure to stop by and congratulate them! Please know that at least 10% of art sales at The Charter are donated to our non-profit supporting outreach and scholarship programs. DONATION Thank you to The Charter at Beaver Creek, their homeowners association, and East West Hospitality for their generous donation toward our 2024 programming. The donation will support The Vail Valley Art Guild's art outreach programs and artist workshop scholarships, directly investing in the growth and development of the arts within our community. Through these programs, we aim to provide youth with access to art education, creative expression, and the opportunity to explore their artistic talents. The donation will also directly contribute to artist scholarships for workshops. These scholarships provide aspiring artists with the financial means to participate in our workshops where they can enhance their skills, learn new techniques, and gain valuable insights from experienced instructors. By supporting these scholarships, we are fostering the growth and success of emerging artists, helping them to pursue their artistic passions and further their artistic careers.

CALLS FOR SUBMISSIONS The 2022 Vail Valley Fine Art Show We are excited to begin planning for our annual Vail Valley Fine Arts Show! This show will run from October through December at the CMC Edwards campus including a reception planned for Oct 14. The show is educational in nature, providing both Guild members and CMC students a chance to participate in an art show and display a wide variety of art forms to our community. We are asking Guild members, CMC students, and CMC staff to submit up to 5 works. Eligible participants have already received one reminder and will receive a few more before the final deadline of Sept 26. Painters, bring your gear and lunch and meet at the Minturn Ranger Station just off I-70 at 9:00 am to carpool. If you're just studio touring, meet at the Ranger Station at 3:00 to carpool. And maybe we'll head for cocktails or dinner afterwards at Mango's in Redcliff or Rocky Taco in Minturn. Details here . And we don’t know who to thank first! We will start with immense gratitude to our collectors and patrons. We are about supporting local artists and photographers. Without you, none of this would be possible. A huge Thank You to our members. We have several artists and photographers who put themselves out there, challenging one another to put an abstract show together. This is part of the creative process: stepping into a new realm. And wow! The results were amazing. And lastly, not leastly! Thanks to our volunteers who created a fresh look for a fresh show, especially Joann Levy, Pam O'Hara and Melissa Nelson. From donating food, wine and time to taking a chance on a new gallery look. Thank You. We are dependent on the tireless work of volunteers. Thank you for making such a difference in our community.
